We believe that the language classroom is more than just a place to introduce new words and grammar. As future teachers, we see it as also a space where children can learn to understand the deeper, often unspoken meanings and emotions behind language. Don’t you think that talking is not always enough to truly understand how someone feels? That’s exactly why we chose the short movie Joy and Heron as the centerpiece of our activity. This heartwarming, wordless animation tells a story of empathy, kindness, and unexpected friendship — showing that emotions can be shared even without words. Through Joy and Heron, our students will get the chance to observe, feel, and talk about emotional intelligence in action, while also learning to create their own storytelling activities — building both their English skills and their ability to express emotions in a creative, meaningful way. 💫💞

Hello everyone! 💗 We are back with a second lesson — and this time we’re continuing our journey into emotions with the focus on the behaviours. To start this lesson we will use the picture book ,,The Colour Monster” by Anna Llenas. This book will guide children to recognise, name, and talk about feelings and also start recognise what actions might influence the feelings.  As the story is read by the teacher, children pause to think about what different feelings look like, how they might feel in their own bodies, and what they do when emotions get big or confusing. After that children will be given a writing worksheet to complete in pairs. In this way they will practice their writing skills.  The lesson will end with a reflection about digital safety. Hello everyone! 👋 Today we want to share our next lesson, which focuses on empathy, emotions, and positive behaviour through the visualisation of the short film Joy and Heron . This activity helps children recognise feelings in others and understand different perspectives. We’ll start with a short discussion about empathy. Students answer questions like What does empathy mean? and How does it feel to show or receive empathy? They will look up the definition online to build interest and digital literacy. Next, they will watch The Joy Story: Joy and Heron . As they watch, children pay close attention to the characters’ expressions and actions. Afterwards, they answer a few questions to check their understanding and discuss how the dog showed empathy, why kindness matters, and some other questions. In our first lesson we will explore emotions through different activities that combine language learning and technology. We will begin by watching a short video from Inside Out to introduce the topic and help us think about how emotions are shown in everyday life.
