Closing Our Learning Situation

Image
Welcome back, and for the very last time, to this blog.   ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’— This final entry marks the closing of our learning journey, a space where we have shared ideas, explored methodologies, and reflected together on the power of active and cooperative learning.´ As we reach the end of this learning situation, it is time to look back and reflect on the journey we have taken together. Over the past weeks, we have explored new methodologies, faced challenges, and discovered the power of learning through active participation and collaboration. This experience has shown us that education is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about developing skills that will accompany us beyond the classroom: critical thinking, teamwork, creativity, and the ability to connect ideas with real-world contexts. Working with Problem-Based Learning (PBL)  has allowed us to move from guided activities to more autonomous projects, where students became the true protagonists of their learning. Each p...

Final Steps of Our Learning Situation

Hello everyone, welcome back to our blog! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ’—This is one of our last entries because we are now reaching the end of our learning situation. It has been a long journey full of creativity, teamwork, and reflection, and we are excited to share how we are putting together the final pieces of our project. At this stage, we are carefully reviewing and adjusting the activities so that they connect clearly with the different areas of digital competence. We want to make sure that every step of the process is not only engaging for the students but also meaningful in terms of skills: searching and organizing information, communicating respectfully online, creating multimedia materials, and reflecting on how technology can support emotional understanding. By aligning the activities with these areas, we ensure that the learning situation is realistic and valuable. We are also checking the flow of the lessons to confirm that each activity builds naturally on the previous one. From brainstorming ide...

Recording Our Video

Image
Hello and welcome to our blog!๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ’  As part of this learning situation, the final product is for students to record a video that shows empathy, teamwork, and emotional management. To make sure that this idea can really be carried out and is realistic, we decided to record a video ourselves. By doing so, we could test the process, check the timing, and confirm that the activity is both possible and meaningful. This experience also helped us to see how technology can be used creatively in the classroom, making the final product not only achievable but also engaging for the students. Today we recorded our video as part of the final product of our learning situation. The activity was very exciting because it allowed us to put into practice everything we have been working on about emotions, empathy, and teamwork. While acting out the scene, we had to show how friends can support each other when something goes wrong, and how empathy helps us to feel better together. The process of record...

Final product and school television

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ’– Today we reflected on how we decided at the idea of the final product. Initially, we wanted students to explore emotions and empathy through small group activities. Then we realized that creating a short video could be an effective way to represent emotional challenges using a technological resource. With the teacher's guidance, they will plan and record their videos, using their imagination and teamwork to make the situations realistic and meaningful. However, we also wanted to connect the final product to one of the project's topics: "make a proposal for digital school newspaper or school television". We thought it would be interesting for the videos created by the students to be part of a school television program. This way, the videos would not only be shared in class but could also be presented as episodes on a digital platform for the entire school community. This idea makes the final product more motivating. Stu...

Setting our goals

Image
Hello, and welcome back to the blog! ๐Ÿ’œ In our last post, we shared our goals, but achieving them required some previous work. So now we'll tell you about that process and reflect on it together. When we started defining the objectives for our learning situation, we realized how important it is to know exactly what we want students to achieve. Setting clear goals helped us organize our ideas and give meaning to each activity we designed. Instead of just thinking about what we wanted to do , we focused on what students should learn with our sessions. We chose to focus on emotions and empathy because they are essential skills for students' personal and social development. Therefore, our objectives aim to guide them through a progressive process, starting with recognizing emotions and continuing until they understand how these emotions influence their behavior and relationships. For example, before students can show empathy, they need to identify emotions in themselves and other...

Why did we choose this topic?

Image
Hello everyone! ๐Ÿ’— Today we´re going to explain you why we have chosen this topic and why do we think it is important to work on it in primary school. We decided to create the learning situation about “Seeing through others’ eyes” because we think empathy and emotional communication are super important in our everyday lives. At school and outside of it, we often face moments when people don’t really understand each other, and that can cause some conflicts.  So, with this project, we want the students to learn how to recognize and express our emotions better, and also understand what others might be feeling. Plus, we thought it would be great to learn all these emotion words in English  (like happy, sad, angry, or bored ) so we can talk about our feelings in another language while improving our English skills at the same time .

Why did we choose this movie?

Image
Hello, good to see you again with us on the blog! ๐Ÿ’–  We believe that the language classroom is more than just a place to introduce new words and grammar. As future teachers, we see it as also a space where children can learn to understand the deeper, often unspoken meanings and emotions behind language. Don’t you think that talking is not always enough to truly understand how someone feels? That’s exactly why we chose the short movie Joy and Heron as the centerpiece of our activity. This heartwarming, wordless animation tells a story of empathy, kindness, and unexpected friendship — showing that emotions can be shared even without words. Through Joy and Heron, our students will get the chance to observe, feel, and talk about emotional intelligence in action, while also learning to create their own storytelling activities — building both their English skills and their ability to express emotions in a creative, meaningful way. ๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ’ž
